The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia took part in the national workshop “Application of New Technologies for Flood Forecasting and Data Science”, organized within the UNESCO Category 2 Centre Water for Sustainable Development and Adaptation to Climate Change (WSDAC) at the “Jaroslav Černi” Institute for Water Management.

This workshop was held in a year that marks the 50th anniversary of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) and 60 years of UNESCO’s commitment to water sciences. The event focused on the exchange of knowledge and experiences, as well as exploring the latest technological applications in water resource management, particularly at the intersection of water, energy, and ecology. Special attention was given to topics such as the development of Flood Early Warning Systems (FEWS) and the synergistic application of AI and IoT technologies in water and energy management. The goal of the workshop was to strengthen the capacities of relevant stakeholders through innovative solutions for planning, monitoring, and preventing flood risks.

On this occasion, the ARTIFACT project was presented, highlighting how AI-driven research and technological solutions can support climate change adaptation and enhance resilience against flood-related risks.

IVI’s participation in this national workshop reinforced collaboration with key sector stakeholders while also providing valuable insights into current technological trends and upcoming projects. Through discussions and experience sharing, representatives of the Institute contributed to shaping joint initiatives that combine research and the application of AI solutions in the context of climate change adaptation and flood protection.
