Expert Training Held on 2D Flood Modelling in an Urban Context

The second online Expert Training within the Horizon Europe TWINNING project ARTIFACT (Artificial Intelligence for Flood Resilient Infrastructure) was successfully held on 28 November 2025 via the Zoom platform.

The training covers the following learning topics:

  • Data collection and processing for 2D flood modelling
  • Application of 2D flood modelling: Real case studies
  • Q&A

The training focuses on the following learning outcomes:

  • To introduce participants to the basic concepts of data collection for flood modelling and how to process it for modelling inputs.
  • To highlight application of urban flood modelling tools like Mike+, with real world examples.

Lectures were held by Prof. Dr. Zoran Vojinović (Delft Institute for Water Education) and Dr. Natasa Manojlović (Hamburg University of Technology), while the session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Zoran Kapelan (Delft University of Technology).

Participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions and a Q&A session with the lecturers, gaining deeper insights into practical modelling approaches and contemporary challenges in urban flood resilience.

This event continues the ARTIFACT project’s efforts to strengthen research collaboration and advance the development of AI-supported, flood-resilient infrastructure.
