Artificial intelligence in the fight against floods!

The Horizon project ARTIFACT is launching

The Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia is pleased to announce the launch of the international EU Horizon research project ARTIFACT (Artificial Intelligence for Flood Resilient Infrastructure) in cooperation with prestigious European partners - Delft University of Technology, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and Hamburg University of Technology.

ARTIFACT in Serbia

The ARTIFACT project is a significant step forward not only for the Institute, but also for Serbia. By cooperating with leading European institutions, we strengthen our research capacities and open up new opportunities for the application of artificial intelligence in solving complex environmental and infrastructure challenges. Our vision is to also become a center of excellence for green AI technologies in smart cities, combining science and innovation with the concrete needs of the community," said Acting Director at the opening meeting of the project. director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, prof. Dr. Dubravko Ćulibrk.

Project GOALS

The goal of the ARTIFACT project is to improve the resilience of urban infrastructure to floods through the application of artificial intelligence and technical solutions inspired by nature. Our main ambition is to develop advanced tools for more accurate flood forecasting and management, while positioning the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia as a regional leader in AI technologies for water engineering. Among the challenges that await us in the project, the adaptation of innovations to local climatic and infrastructure conditions through cooperation with the IT sector and the academic community stands out", emphasized the head of the research group "Green AI" and senior research associate at IVI Dr. Milan Stojković.
