ARTIFACT Highlights in November: Urban Water Management and Edge AI Innovation

Participation at the V National Conference on Urban Rainwater Management in Baja, Hungary

On 27 November 2025, the ARTIFACT project was represented at the Vth National Conference on Urban Rainwater Management, held in Baja, Hungary, at the National University of Public Service, Faculty of Water Sciences. Under the motto “Adaptive water management,” the conference gathered leading experts to discuss urban resilience, stormwater challenges, and climate adaptation.

As part of the session “International Outlook and Innovations in Urban Stormwater Management,” Dr. Milan Stojković, Senior Research Professor at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia, presented ARTIFACT’s contributions. He highlighted how advanced AI techniques, deep neural networks, physics-informed models, and graph-based learning, can enhance traditional hydrological and hydraulic approaches to flood risk management.

ARTIFACT Contribution to the AIDA4Edge Stakeholder Forum

The ARTIFACT team also took part in the first Stakeholder Forum of the AIDA4Edge project, held on 25 November 2025 in hybrid format, featuring 30 participants from academia, industry, and innovation-support organizations.

The forum provided a platform to discuss pathways for turning Edge AI research into commercially viable solutions.
Milan Grujev, Junior Researcher at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence R&D of Serbia, presented within the session “Smart Sensors, Smarter Environment: Edge AI and the Future of Sustainable Environment,” showcasing ARTIFACT’s work on applying AI and sensor technologies to environmental monitoring.

Speakers from Serbia, North Macedonia, and Germany shared their perspectives on research, innovation, commercialization, and ecosystem support. Discussions highlighted key challenges such as access to real industry problems, need for real-world testing environments, and limited business and market understanding. Participants also received information on EU funding opportunities for further development of Edge AI solutions.

The forum served as a valuable meeting point for strengthening the regional innovation ecosystem and supporting the development of market-ready Edge AI applications.
