Our summer schools are part of a TWINNING methodology aimed at enhancing research excellence through collaborative training and networking. They will focus on building the capacity of early-stage researchers (ESRs) and fostering collaboration among all project partners.

Key Highlights of the Summer Schools

Annual Themes:

  • Year 1: AI-based urban flood risk models under climate change – Focus on theoretical foundations of AI applications in urban flood modeling.
  • Year 2: Nature-Based Solutions (NBSs) and green technologies for flood risk reduction – Explore implementation strategies of NBS technologies.
  • Year 3: Innovation in the context of flooding – Delve into applied aspects and practical implementations of technologies discussed in previous years.

Structure and Activities

  • Lectures and Tutorials: Delivered by experts from IVI, TU Delft, IHE Delft, and TUHH to build foundational and advanced knowledge.
  • Interactive Sessions: Hands-on training in AI and flood engineering, networking opportunities, and competitions (e.g., hackathons).
  • Collaborative Projects: Opportunities for joint work among Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) to encourage interdisciplinary and international collaboration.

Networking Opportunities

  • Bringing together ESRs from around the world to stimulate long-term connections.
  • Promoting interaction through both academic and informal settings.

Focus on Capacity Building

  • Strengthen skills in AI-driven flood modeling, decision-making, and NBS integration.
  • Build competencies for research innovation and application in climate-resilient infrastructure.
