Expert Training Held on Physically Based Flood Modelling in Urban Areas
The first expert training within the Horizon Europe TWINNING project ARTIFACT (Artificial Intelligence for Flood Resilient Infrastructure) was successfully held on 14 May 2025, via the Zoom platform. A total of 30 participants attended the live session.
Organized by the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia, the event featured a series of expert-led presentations focusing on the latest methodologies and real-world applications in physically based urban flood modelling.
The agenda covered the following topics:
- Fundamentals of urban flood modelling
- Data collection methods for flood simulation
- Case studies from urban environments
Lectures were held by Prof. Dr. Zoran Vojinović (Delft Institute for Water Education) and Dr. Natasa Manojlović (Hamburg University of Technology), while the session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Zoran Kapelan (Delft University of Technology).
The training included interactive discussions on the application of artificial intelligence in flood modelling, with participants sharing their perspectives and experiences related to both traditional and emerging modelling approaches.
The training marks the beginning of a series of expert events under the ARTIFACT project, aiming to foster research collaboration and the exchange of knowledge in the domain of AI-supported, flood-resilient infrastructure.
